2006 Queensland Tourism Awards![]() The 2006 Queensland Tourism Awards were recently held in Brisbane on Friday, 17 November 2006 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. The Awards consisted of 28 categories in which TRAC Consulting entered Category 17 Tourism Education and Training.
TRAC were rewarded for their tremendous effort and contribution to the tourism and hospitality training industry by being recognised as a category finalist. This award was based upon TRAC’s ability during 2006 to reach out and work with over 165 Tourism and Hospitality based businesses across Regional Queensland.
Director’s Mark and Jeanette Jones attended on the night and expressed the following sentiments … “It was very humbling as a small business to be recognised by our peers and industry icons given that the other finalist in this category were either Universities or other Government funded training institutions. It says a lot for the professionalism and commitment to excellence that is displayed every day by our team members, a huge thank you to all our staff and contract trainers.”
The team at TRAC Consulting are already eagerly awaiting next year’s awards for the opportunity to further display their commitment and passion in providing the best and most innovative training and consulting solutions available today, not only on the Sunshine Coast but across Queensland and the rest of Australia. 10 Years StrongAs mentioned in our last newsletter, the month of October represented a significant milestone in the history of TRAC Consulting. We entered into our 10th year of operation. The team surprised Mark and Jeanette with a fitting celebration and as Mark said "a huuuge mud cake". At TRAC we all look forward to continued growth and growing with ALL of our valued clients.
From the TRAC team "a big well done to Mark & Jeanette!". Community Spirit - Sunshine Coast DailyThe Sunshine Coast Daily recently ran an article promoting Community Spirit on the Sunshine Coast. The daily requested an interview based upon TRAC’s growing reputation in promoting philanthropic training initiatives. “It was an effortless interview due to the fact it is what TRAC Consulting not only promotes but passionately believes in. We continually search for new ways to factor community support into the programs we run”. To view the full article click on the below link. Recommended ReadingsFAD Surfing in the Boardroom! I’m constantly amazed at how often clients (Managers) struggle with the concept of change both personally and corporately. Well, I have just discovered a real gem that provides unequalled insights in how to manage the change process more effectively. Written in a flippant almost child-like fashion, “FAD Surfing in the Boardroom” is a must for all managers wishing to make a difference.
FAD Surfing in the Boardroom strips the hard-sell promises off the fads and demonstrates in a fun and easily understood manner how to focus on the real problems to be solved and the core requirements for finding effective solutions. Written for those who call the management meetings and for those who attend them, this book takes an intelligent and witty look at which tools can work for your company, which can’t and why, as well as what managers can do to improve their odds for success. A book of wisdom based upon reality and common sense.
To quote Henry Ford whose quote says it all, “Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it!”
This book is easily read and highly recommended. ISBN # 0-201-40974-7 2007 CoursesThe Sunshine Coast Daily ran a feature called “Education 2007” - this 15 page feature was printed on 2 November 2007. The Great Corporate RaceThe Sunshine Coast’s TRAC Consulting and The Solution Network Australia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which will see TRAC Consulting deliver and facilitate the “Great Corporate Race” for the next three years.
Similar in structure to its television name sake “The Amazing Race”, The Great Corporate Race involves a series of competitive legs and checkpoints where teams are bound by time or resource constraints to achieve set objectives. Teams compete for outright first position or the achievement of predetermined outcomes whilst competing against other organisations or work teams.
The event is also designed to expand knowledge and awareness of the community work undertaken by The Solution Network Australia Foundation (SNAF). This Foundation assists young girls aged 10 -17 who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness through collaborative projects with existing services in the area’s of crisis accommodation, training, counselling and resource support. Proceeds from each workshop are channelled into this important community funded initiative. SNAF is a Government registered charity, and your teams entry fees supporting this event are fully tax deductible.
The Great Corporate Race events are run with the support of key sponsors including Woolworths, Macquarie Bank and Tourism Sunshine Coast. The events are currently run on the Sunshine Coast and also have the support of industry icons such as Australia Zoo, Underwater World, Hyatt Regency Coolum, Aussie World and The Big Kart Track.
